The now fully operational 36,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space offers many efficiencies, as well as energy-saving features. The company&#8217;s need for a new label facility was funded by several years of double-digit sales growth.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Schmidt, plant manager, estimated a 20 percent energy savings compared to the smaller, leased space that served as the company&#8217;s plant for 10 years. &#8220;It makes a big difference to be able to build a plant with optimal workflow planning in manufacturing, prepress and customer service,&#8221; he noted. &#8220;We were able to put our processes together in ways to serve customers better. That was the goal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Western States expects its label growth to continue. The next time expansion is needed, however, the company won&#8217;t be moving. It has the capability to triple its square footage right on the parcel it now occupies. Even the specially constructed outer walls can be reused to provide expanded floor space.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We see labels as a strong growth area for us. Many of our current envelope customers are just now coming to see us as a high-quality prime label source. We have great people in our label division [who] brought us where we are today.
